It was quarter pass eight, when the sun is waking up , water droplets falling off the leaves, the cool breeze swept away by the heat of morning shine, as people were rushing their way to work, walking to school while others enjoying their daily jog in the park. As a boy was cruising down the street heading to his college, facing a new challenge in pursuing his studies abroad. He was a tall and skinny person with a dark and slightly curly hair struggling in his studies achieving success in his life and making his parents proud. When he was riding his bicycle, a flashback of his childhood memories came up to his mind, seeing him as a kid, growing up in a countryside, playing and enjoying life with his friends during school days.

During his primary school, he was a quiet boy, known as the nerd kids, and getting bullied by bigger boys who thinks they were better and popular, teasing smaller kids making their live miserable. This boys was always been push around because of his small posture and skinny body which was commonly labeled as “the living crops” or even “the walking stick”. He was not a sports man and always be blamed for the lost their football match and being called a loser. Reluctantly walking to school, he has to face the terrible period everyday at school. Albeit of his misfortune, he has a group of friend which they stick together making them strong supporting each other. There was Azril, the slickiest with his imaginative ideas, Najmi, the negotiator who always helps them gets out of trouble, Iqbal, the supporter who always support the group, Azri and Nazmi, respectively the tallest and the biggest of all, defending their clan, and finally the boy who was the most flexible which he always get the job done. Together, six of them make a unique gang protecting their territory from other bullies. Unfortunately, the gang was separated when they moved to their secondary school. Some of them transfer to different school or other city.

The story of the boy started to turn when in his secondary school. He met a new Chinese friend who thought him to play basketball. He felt in loves with the game until he was obsessed with it and started to try his luck for the school basketball team. A basketball game was mostly popular among Chinese student and it was a challenging journey as he was the only malay boy who was interested in the game. Despite giving up trying, he was working harder to secure his place in the team. Playing as a forward in his team, the boy reputation soon rose from zero to hero. Since then, teachers started to recognized him and the girls was cheering for him. He became one of the famous kids in school. He was even promoted to be the school prefects hanging out only with the well-known gang. Other than that, he had also a hidden talent of a great artist. In the other hand, this book turn out to be a delightfull story when he manage to blend in with the new environment, making new friends and writing an interesting story of his life. Boarding school wasn’t so bad, getting up early in the morning, washing off their own cloth and being torture by their senior. Instead, it makes the kid stronger and more independent. He also joined the basketball team. He and his friends always got caught in a hot soup and was caned of their disciplinary problems. Running away from the guard and sweeping through the dormitory during the light off and pretending to be sick just to be excuse for classes was the crime he used to do in school. Doing a last minutes studies for tests and exams. These memories sometimes give him a laughing sensation when he thinks off his foolishness during his schooldays.

He passed by the guard stand of his college, parked and locked his bicycle and running to his lecture room. As if today, studying in a private institution, in a big city, he has managed to achieve an excellent result in his schools and making his way to be an architect. Galloping to his class, greeting his friends and lecturers, studying physics, math and other subject relentlessly as he was eager to continues his studies, meeting new friends, creating new story making this life more meaningfull instead of only racing for wealth. When suddenly his friend interrupted his day dreaming, “Zhaff, you forgot the keys again”. The boy slap his forehead notating that he carelessly forget to get the class key as he was the class representative. Another memory of his life that would be written in his storybook.
